DREAM CIRCUS PROJECT

Mixed media on paper
Variable dimensions
Kilometers traveled: approx. 16,000
Dreams collected so far: 1109
2011 - ongoing

The Dream Circus Project is an itinerant relational art initiative that began in 2011. It aims to explore the visual imagery of dreams, fostering dialogue, encounters, and connections among its visitors. Dream Circus seeks to translate the dream world into graphic art, creating a traveling circus of dreams that thrives on interaction and exchange, moving from city to city and acting as a true relational device.

Dream Circus presents itself as an installation composed of dozens of small drawings on paper. The audience is invited to write down a dream or nightmare that has particularly affected them, contributing to this evolving artistic exploration of the subconscious.

For each dream collected, Daniele Catalli creates one or more drawings. In exchange for sharing their dream, participants receive a drawing generated from someone else's dream, chosen from those available on display. The only guideline is to follow their instinct and the impressions evoked by the image. As dreams are selected, the installation evolves, making room for new images.

In 2014, the project won the BEST PROJECT award at Wetraders Berlin, held at Kunstraum Bethanien in Berlin.
